Resources for The Meeting on 5th of May
Marjorie Mallon

With the Writers' Resources meeting on the 5th of May looming on the horizon I have compiled some links which I hope will be helpful:
Kazuo Ishiguro talking at Ely
David Franks

Kazuo Ishiguro will be talking at Ely Cathedral on Monday 9th March, doors open at 6.45 for 7 p.m., one of a series of literary events organised by Topping and Company, booksellers of Ely (see http://www.toppingbooks.co.uk/events/ely/kazuo-ishiguro-2/ - tickets available from Topping). He won the Booker Prize for The Remains of the Day. It is ten years since Kazuo published his last novel Never Let Me Go, and The Buried Giant, his first novel since then will be published on March 3rd. For followers of Kazuo Ishiguro, this will be a major event for 2015.
Cambridge Writers Short Story Competition 2015
David Franks

Anne-Marie Garvey, journalist and writer, was our judge this year. She told the meeting that she had thoroughly enjoyed reading the very varied entries, inventive and exciting, every one of which had merits. She said that she was so much looking forward to the eBook and how wonderfully talented were all of the entries, a real treat for a reader who wants variety, style and tone from the hands of people who can take them to some unusual places with skill and conviction. Each one had a surprising angle on the short story, she said, and that it was a real challenge to choose the winners.
